I find it interesting that Sam Kass, previously the obamas personal chef before the election, was the chef representative for the garden and seemed to command attention, shoveling nutrients on while wearing his immaculate chef’s coat. He’s not even the executive chef, C. Commerford is. She’s the small philipino chef who was briefly shown being instructed about salad washing by sam kass.
Also in the recent iron chef show featuring commerford, at the garden harvest kass was nowhere. 
,Ishall encourage this idea.I also believe that it begins at home, I recall helping my father with our garden. He would say,”Marisela, run inside and grab me the salt shaker.. I ran happily for I knew we would be sitting on a pale eating fresh sweet tomatoes and corn.Thank you for caring.
I just like the simple idea to grow veggies into the garden…but aren’t you bothered by the squirrels, guys?
@akuWhat does any of that have to do with anything?Of course I’m aware of such pathetic frivolous nonsense as the “entire team of chefs” that our modern kings have always enjoyed.However, putting yourself out there as some kind of cutting-edge advocate of rugged self-reliance and home gardening as your serfs toil while you stand around in your designer clothes is an absurd example of pathological self-absorption .If you can’t see the epic fail here, there’s really no hope.Come on.
@hrosemd You realize that the White House serves a government role as the site of state dinners for ambassadors and foreign leaders when they come to visit? The White House is not a palatial estate simply because the President is a “modern king.” It’s because it’s vital for the image of the nation. Every nation on Earth has a palace or mansion at which supreme executive power is located.She DID put some work into this garden, which is more than most First Ladies do on the property.
@hrosemd So should I assume you want our President to live in a small humble cottage, and not allow his wife to wear “designer clothes” that she buys on her own salary? You want to eliminate these class boundaries?What are you, some kind of Leninist?
